There was once a dream that was IVCC. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish... it was so fragile. And we feared that it will not survive the 2013 winter. But survive it did, and so the gentlemen players got together in a backstreet boozer in OX4 and established Iffley Village Cricket Club in 2014. With the ethos behind the club being to play friendly 40-over and 20-over cricket matches against like-minded clubs around the country, our focus is as much on playing competitive cricket as it is enjoying a beer with the opposition after the game, and with the journey being far more important than the result.

A makeshift set of Villagers saw an early batting collapse at 32-4, with a rearguard stabilisation getting us to 142 all out (Meier 41, Bibb 40). Despite strong bowling performances across the board (with Ellis in particular proving unplayable early in his spell), the total was just too small to defend and Didcot secured a win by 4 wickets in 33 overs.

The IVCC gentlemen recorded their second win of the season, securing the highest run chase in the history of the Club at Wantage & Grove. With the home side having posted a formidable 233 for 5 from their 35 overs, IVCC reached the total for 7 in the 33rd over. Match report to follow.

A poor batting performance left the Villagers too much to do in the field, and saw us succumb to our first loss of the season at Islip.
IVCC 117-9 off 28 overs (Berry 40, Smith 31).
Islip 118-4 off 22 (1 wicket a apiece for Troth, Tyler, Meier and Berry).
