Wed 16th May 2018 vs. Appleton (A) @ Appleton

Match report

Daylight and Garr both hit boundaries before getting out early doors. Attillio looked in classy touch until he was bowled for 18. The Appleton opening bowlers bowled well and took 4 wickets between them to leave us in a spot of bother. Tim M and Ben tucked in to some more generous change bowling, with Tim scoring all of his runs from two overs from the hapless Geller before retiring on 39. Bill & Ben then entertained us some more, with Bill launching a huge six into the bushes before holing out to an impressive catch on the boundary. There was time for some enterprising scurrying between the wickets between Tim E and Will to close out the innings and post an imposing total for Appleton to chase.

The home side got off to a good start with Webb thrashing 17 off Daylight's first over, but Bobby had his revenge early in the third over by comprehensively castling him. That effectively ended the game as a contest, with Appleton struggling to get IVCC's miserly bowling away and having to settle for 3-4 runs per over. Aside from a wicket for Alex and Tim E, the remainder of the game was something of a damp squib.

The game was finally abandoned after 16 overs in somewhat surreal circumstances. Appleton's batsman at the non-striking end collapsed to the floor clutching his chest; it seem became apparent that his pace-maker had gone off, and he was thankfully able to walk from the field to await professional medical assistance. IVCC sends its best wishes to the man in question and his family and wishes him good health.
